Water Damage
Restoration
From burst pipes to flooding, water damage worsens by the minute. Our rapid extraction and drying process minimizes loss and prevents mold before it can take hold.
Water Damage Doesn't Stop When the Water Does
The standing water you can see is only part of the problem. Drywall wicks moisture upward, insulation holds water against framing, and hardwood floors cup and buckle as moisture migrates through them. Within 24 to 48 hours, the conditions for mold are established in any porous material that hasn't been dried.
Certified Restoration deploys industrial extraction and drying equipment immediately, using moisture meters to confirm the structure is truly dry — not just dry to the touch. We document everything for your insurance claim from the first visit.
Shut off the water source if it's safe to do so. Stopping the flow is the single most impactful action you can take in the first minutes of a water emergency.

Common Water Damage Situations
Water damage comes from many sources — some sudden and obvious, others slow and hidden until the damage is already done.
Burst & Frozen Pipes
Long Island's cold winters freeze and burst pipes in exterior walls and unheated spaces — releasing hundreds of gallons before the water is even discovered.
Basement Flooding
Sump pump failures, foundation cracks and storm surge flood finished basements, saturating drywall, flooring and stored belongings within minutes.
Roof & Storm Leaks
Wind-driven rain, ice dams and damaged flashing let water into attics and wall cavities, often soaking insulation and framing before a ceiling stain ever appears.
Appliance Failures
Washing machine hoses, dishwashers, water heaters and refrigerator lines fail without warning — and slow leaks can run undiscovered for weeks.
Sewage Backups
Contaminated water from sewer backups requires a specialized cleanup protocol, with affected porous materials removed and surfaces antimicrobially treated.
Hidden Slow Leaks
Leaks behind walls and under floors reveal themselves through soft spots, warping and mold — by which point subfloor and framing often need replacement.

Water Damage Insurance Claims — Handled For You
Water damage is the most frequently filed property insurance claim — and the documentation done at the start has a direct, measurable impact on the final settlement. The full extent of water migration is often invisible before mitigation begins, and damage that isn't documented early is hard to add later.
We approach every water loss with the claim in mind from the first visit — moisture mapping, daily drying logs and pre-demolition photography built to the standard adjusters work from.
What Water Damage Insurance Covers
Standard policies cover sudden and accidental water damage — burst pipes, appliance failures, storm-driven roof leaks. Coverage extends to extraction, drying, removal of non-salvageable materials and full reconstruction to pre-loss condition.
Category Matters
Water is classified by contamination — clean (Cat 1), grey (Cat 2) and black/sewage (Cat 3). The category drives the remediation protocol and must be documented correctly to ensure the right scope is covered.
Drying Documentation
Carriers increasingly require daily moisture readings to justify drying equipment and duration. Our drying logs satisfy that requirement and protect you from disputes if mold appears later.

Water Damage Restoration FAQs
Straightforward answers to what property owners ask us most.
How long does water damage restoration take?
The drying phase typically runs three to five days for a contained loss, longer for larger events. Drying can't be rushed — equipment runs until structural materials hit target moisture levels. Reconstruction follows once the insurance scope is settled.
Can I just dry it out with fans myself?
Household fans don't produce real structural drying. They move surface air but can't pull moisture from wall cavities, subfloors and insulation — and without dehumidification they can actually spread moisture. Industrial air movers and dehumidifiers, monitored with moisture meters, are what dry a structure properly.
My basement flooded — can the drywall be saved?
Usually not, if it's been submerged or heavily saturated. Standard drywall wicks water and loses integrity quickly, so it's removed to allow proper drying of the framing and insulation behind it. The drywall is inexpensive to replace; the framing it protects is not.
How do you know when it's really dry?
Only a calibrated moisture meter can confirm structural drying — not touch or appearance. We take and log readings daily against industry-standard targets and don't pull equipment until those targets are met.
